Insurance

Life Insurance: If, on your retirement date, you were eligible to continue your Basic and Supplemental Life Insurance coverage (if enrolled), that coverage continues until the June 30th following your 70th birthday. You will be billed for this coverage.

The amount of your Basic and Supplemental Life Insurance coverage reduces by 35% on the June 30th following your 65th birthday for services and trades ("hourly") employees, or 66th birthday for all other faculty and staff.

Long Term Care Insurance: LTC insurance covers expenses for long term care, whether received at home, in the community, or in a nursing facility. At this time, Harvard is only offering this type of insurance to active employees.

Policies that individuals may have with Genworth, Harvard's LTC insurer through 2025, will be honored by the company. Those LTC policies will remain active so long as premiums are paid as required. To contact Genworth with any question on a policy you currently hold with them, call Risk Strategies at 877-321-4427 or email Harvard@tbbgroup.net

John Hancock, another of Harvard's previous LTC insurers, will honor existing Harvard LTC contracts that it holds so long as policy holders continue to pay the monthly premiums.
