This ramble will take advantage of the facilities at the Acton Arboretum, followed by a group lunch at Fihlo’s Great Road, also in Acton. The Arboretum is easily accessible from Route 2, and the restaurant is nearby on a route that will return you to the metropolitan area.
The Arboretum walk will include forest trails as well as the garden section either on your own (with maps provided) or as a group. The main trail loops, including the orchard, wildflower, and highland bog sections, total about 1.5 miles with varying surfaces including pavement, forest trails, a somewhat rooted section, and boardwalks. We would expect to spend about an hour and a half at the Arboretum before driving to the optional lunch at Filho’s Great Road, Acton. (Not to be confused with the original Filho’s in Groton).

There is no charge for this event other than the cost of your lunch, but limitations on parking at the Arboretum and the dining room size at the restaurant will limit participation to the first 25 registrants. Due to the group size, the restaurant will need to limit the number of entree choices, most likely to include the specialties Vegetable Lasagna, Chicken Parmesan, Genelli con Salsiccia, and a Prosciutto di Parma sandwich. Expect to pay between $12 and $17 for your lunch. See menu for further details at:
